Parking ticket (PCN)
A parking ticket is also known as a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).
You may receive a penalty charge notice if you:
- Park in areas where loading/unloading restrictions apply
- Park for longer than the time paid for
- Park in a resident's parking space without displaying a valid permit
- Park in a reserved bay e.g. disabled bay, taxi rank unless authorised to do so
- Park in a bus stop or bus lane during the prohibited hours
- Park not wholly within a bay
How can I pay a Penalty Charge Notice?
If you do park where you should not be you are likely to be issued with a penalty charge notice. The penalty charge notice will explain on it how to pay. If you pay within 14 days you will only have to pay the discounted amount shown on the notice.
Since 1 April 2011 parking in Uttlesford has been run by the North Essex Parking Partnership. The Parking Partnership is lead by Colchester Council which co-ordinates the on-street Civil Enforcement Officers ("traffic wardens"); the parking enforcement process together with challenges to, and payments of, Parking Charges Notices (PCNs). Payments for for Parking Charges Notices are processed on behalf of the Parking Partnership by Colchester Council.

How can I challenge a Penalty Charge Notice?
