Election of Uttlesford District councillors on Thursday 2 May 2019

Elections for all Uttlesford District wards will take place on Thursday 2 May 2019.

About this election

Councillors are elected to Uttlesford District Council to represent their local community. There are 22 wards in the district and, if all wards are contested, 39 councillors to be elected.

We have published a list of nominated candidates, called the Statement of Persons Nominated, on Thursday 4 April.

Who can vote

To vote in the district elections you must be registered to vote and also:

  • Be aged 18 or over
  • Live in the district  and be a British citizen, a citizen of the European Union or a qualifying Commonwealth citizen
  • Not be subject to any legal incapacity to vote

The deadline for all registration applications, in time for this election is midnight on Friday 12 April 2019.

How to vote

If you are registered to vote and already on our electoral register, you do not need to register again for these elections.

Voting in person

You can go along to vote at your polling station on Thursday 2 May 2019 between 7am and 10pm.

The name and address of  your polling station is will be printed on your poll card, which will be delivered to you from 26 March. You can check where your polling station is on our Polling stations and polling districts page.

If you are unable to get to your polling station on Thursday 2 May 2019, there are different options available to you in order for you to cast your vote. You could apply for a postal or by proxy vote.

Voting by post

If  you are already registered to vote by post your postal ballot packs will be posted to you by 1st class mail on or about 12 April.

If you are not currently registered to vote by post you can apply to vote by post.

The deadline to apply to vote by post at these elections is 5pm on Monday 15 April 2019. 

Voting by proxy

You can appoint someone to go to the polling station and vote on your behalf.

If you are not currently registered for a proxy vote  you can apply to vote by proxy.

The deadline to apply to vote by proxy (not postal proxy or emergency proxies) at these elections is 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2019.
