Have your say on the council's budget spending for 2019/20

Uttlesford District Council provides a wide range of services to the community - and everyone has a view on which are the most important.

The council has launched its annual budget consultation and wants to know what residents think its priorities should be for the 2019/20 financial year, and what it should spend their council tax on.

The survey also asks for views on the proposals for Local Council Tax Support for 2019/20 - this scheme sets the level of the financial assistance provided to eligible Council Tax payers.

Cllr Simon Howell, Cabinet Member for Finance and Administration, said: "With local authority finances being squeezed ever tighter, it is important that we continue to use the council's resources in the best and most effective way possible.

"Setting the budget is a process that takes many months, and so we are asking all residents now for their views on what the spending priorities should be for the next financial year."

The survey has been sent out directly in the summer edition of the residents' magazine Uttlesford Life, whilst the same questions have been asked in a telephone survey of 500 households across the district.

The council will accept completed online and paper surveys until 5pm on Monday 6 August 2018.

The budget for 2019/20 will be agreed by Full Council in February 2019 following consideration by the Scrutiny Committee and Cabinet.
