We are planning for good growth and are already delivering great places for our new and existing communities. The size of our teams also means that this will be a great learning environment too.
Planning at Uttlesford
Uttlesford District Council (UDC) has embarked on an ambitious transformation programme, which encompasses its entire planning Service. This is being supported by the Planning Advisory Service (PAS) in liaison with the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC). Under a new Chief Executive and led by new Director of Planning we have re-profiled the service and created a number of new posts in order to achieve our ambitious and exciting programme. This is your opportunity to contribute, influence and develop the Planning Service, our emerging Local Plan and the district itself.
Uttlesford is situated between London and Cambridge, with offices in Saffron Walden, Little Canfield and Stansted. It is largely rural in its landscape and character and includes more listed buildings than any other district or borough. It is also home to London Stansted Airport and a major science and research park. Managing and making the most of this diversity presents a demanding but satisfying planning challenge.
We are currently working on our new Local Plan. It will be a climate change-led plan and may include proposals for entire new communities and infrastructure. With a target of more than 14,000 new homes and significant employment growth we have created a new Strategic Applications Team in DM to provide advice and deal with large scale major applications. We have also created specialist posts to support the sensitive growth of the area.
Our officers will be involved in delivering sustainable major housing schemes, airport-related development, business space, and infrastructure, all the while protecting our incredibly rich heritage, prized ecology and unique character.
Our officers work remotely for the most part, using our Saffron Walden, Little Canfield and Stansted offices as needed.
